2022 Dole Great Race 5K | 10K | Half

10 Week Training Program – Jan 23 – April 2, 2022

10 Week Program - Begins Sunday, January 23, 2022

This 10 week running program is suitable for all levels of athlete.  We’re training for the 2022 Dole Great Race.  All of the training will be on our local trails and roads.  We’ll meet weekly at various local coffee shops on Sundays for our group long run and include some additional mid-week workout offerings as well.

Our Goal Event

 Our goal event is the Dole Great Race which offers a 5K, 10K, 5+10K and a Half Marathon (partly trail), which will be held Saturday, April 2, in Agoura Hills.  Participation in the event is optional.  You are more than welcome to come train with us in preparation for another event of just for the fun of it.

** Please note, registration for the event and travel to the event is not included in program pricing.  Registration will be done separately.

Start the New Year off right!  Let us help you stay motivated and focused with fun group runs (that will start/end at various coffee shops) and a super fun goal race.  We visit many of our local trails as well as tackle beautiful country-side roads.  With all the race distances offered at the Dole Great Race, there’s something for everyone.  There’s even a race for trail lovers (the half marathon course features 7 miles of trail).

Group Training Schedule:

Sundays: 8:00 AM – Long Run – starting/ending at a different coffee shops each week
Thursdays: 7:30 AM – Mid-week Interval workout

Optional Add-ons:
Tues/Thursday: 5:30 PM Strength and Conditioning Workouts (live group workouts held on Zoom)

All levels of runner welcome

All training paces welcome, new runners welcome, hikers welcome, advanced runners welcome.  Everyone is welcome and will likely find others of similar ability.

Weekly Group Long Run

Every Sunday at 8:00 AM – Meeting at a different coffee shop each week

Optional Workout Add-Ons:

1-2 Strength and Conditioning workouts each week (Tue/Thur)

About the Race

The Great Race, located in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains in the Los Angeles suburb of Agoura Hills, California, is a celebration of running that features six races including: the incredibly scenic Chesebro Half Marathon mostly trail race, the Deena Kastor 5K, Old Agoura 10K, 15K Combo and 1 Mile Run.  Established in 1986, the Great Race has won many awards and accolades over the years and boast the best Post-Race party.

Chesebro Half Marathon

This is a unique run that traverses both road and trails. It wanders through Old Agoura down Chesebro Road and onto the Cheeseboro Canyon Trail in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.

Old Agoura 10k

The 10K runs adjacent to Cheeseboro Canyon at the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and meanders through the horse community of Old Agoura. Enjoy one of the most scenic road races in California!

Deen Kastor 5K

The Great Race is proud to name its 5K after former Agoura High School standout Deena Kastor, who set the 5K WORLD RECORD at 14:54 in 2002. Deena grew up running in The Great Race. She won the bronze medal in the marathon at the 2004 Olympics and set U.S. records for the 5K, 8K, 10K, 15K, half marathon and marathon, and in 2015 tied the World Masters record in the 5K in 15:48.

Cindy Abrami, UESCA Certified Running Coach | NASM-CPT/CES | Running Technique Specialist | Elite Master Runner/Multisport Athlete

It’s Cindy’s passion and conviction to help others meet their performance and health goals in an effective, life-changing way!  A healthy lifestyle is fundamental and with proper support and inspiration, anything is possible!  She is an elite masters runner, and multi-sport athlete (2018 and 2019 ITU Sprint Duathlon World Champion), a UESCA Running Coach, group fitness instructor, indoor cycling instructor and certified personal trainer and her biggest passion is to get all types of people outside doing healthy things together, helping them build relationships that matter and last a lifetime.  Support, connection, purpose!

Coach Whitney Bruice

Coach Whitney Bruice

Whitney is originally from Berkeley, California, and grew up swimming competitively. At UC Santa Barbara, she played water polo for three years while earning a degree in Psychology and a Coaching Certification. She coached JV and recreational swim teams and competed in biathlons like Nite Moves for several years before getting into triathlons. She loves swimming, biking and running for fitness but also the healthy community that is built around it and the balance it brings to her life.  Whitney went to graduate school in Clinical Psychology, working in behavioral health, and became licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) in 2004. Currently she works as a counselor at Student Health at UC Santa Barbara. She got involved coaching triathlon and running groups with Moms in Motion starting in 2006. She is passionate about helping people reach goals by training them physically and providing motivation and support.
