Swim/Run Development Program

Swim/Run is also known as Aquathlon. It is a USAT Sanctioned multisport event that combines swimming and running and is ideal for swimmers, runners and multisport athletes.

12 Week Training Program – April 27 – July 16, 2021

Program Fee is as low as $100 – for 12 Week Development Program

12 Week Program - Begins Tuesday, April 27, 2021

This goal oriented program is for athletes of every level who seek to improve as swimmers, runners and desire to participate in local and national competitions.

Participate in open water workouts, structured running workouts, and swim/run combined workouts all designed to improve your skill and fitness in a supportive atmosphere.

Competition Goal Race Opportunities

Aquathlon competitions happen locally and nationally and summer time is peak season.

Our training will prepare you for the popular local events: Nite Moves, Reef n’ Run, and Semana Nautica events.

Our main goal event is the USAT Aquathlon National Championships to be held in Long Beach, CA in July.

Aquathlon is an emerging multisport event which combines running and open water swimming.  Races can either be Swim to Run, or Run to Swim to Run depending on the water temperature.  This is a fun multisport combination and even more fun when you train specifically for it.

Group Training Schedule:

Tuesdays: 5:00 PM-6:00 PM – Open Water Workout (meet at Leadbetter)

Sundays: 10:00 AM-11:00 AM – Swim/Run Workout (and transition practice) (meet at Leadbetter)

Optional Add-on’s:
Tues/Thursday: 5:30 PM Strength and Conditioning Workouts (live group workouts held on Zoom)

Wednesdays: 6:00 PM-7:30 PM Coached Running Workouts (and skill development) (meet at East Beach parking lot – West in)

All levels of athlete welcome

Whether you are experienced and looking to improve or you are a new athlete this is the way you’ll improve

Two group Training Sessions per Week

Included in the program are group workouts are Tuesdays and Sundays (see the schedule)

Optional Workout Add-On's:

1-2 Strength and Conditioning workouts each week (Tue/Thur) and/or 1 Group Running Interval Workout per week (Wed)

Skill Development

Workouts are designed not only to provide training adaptations but also are focused on technique development and racing skills

Professional Coaching by Coach AB

Coach AB is a long time professional swim coach, as well as a swimmer, runner and multisport athlete.  He is also a certified Triathlon Coach through the United Endurance Sports Coaching Academy (UESCA).

About Your Coach

Coach John Abrami (Coach AB) | UESCA Certified Triathlon Coach | Professional Swim Coach

John, known as Coach AB, has been a life-long competitive athlete, starting out as a competitive swimmer and runner and now also competes as a multisport athlete.  He’s been a professional age group and Masters swim coach for over 40 years and is the Head Coach of Santa Barbara Masters Swimming.  John is a UESCA certified Triathlon coach and spends a lot of time encouraging athletes to try new things.  He has helped build a robust swim and multisport culture in his community.
